BOOK REVIEW: From Fragments to Foundation

I’m deeply honored and humbled by this powerful review from Jacqueline Laughlin, and I wanted to share it here on my blog as an expression of heartfelt gratitude. On November 3, 2025, she left me this incredible comment along with a link to her full review. She wrote:

“This is truly an outstanding achievement on so many levels. As many friends and colleagues have despair and lose their jobs, what a ray of hope. I received my book and have thoroughly enjoyed it and have been transformed.”

Her words truly moved me. Jacqueline went on to say:

“TEACHER and PRIEST and SAGE and SCRIBE: oh my yes. Apparently, you too had been listening in for the ancestors pushing and pulling and inviting me to slow down… slow way down, and all they ask is that they are not forgotten.”

She added this heartfelt encouragement:

“Do not buy him a coffee, buy the book! Period FULL STOP! Support the writers who inspire you and teach you new things. I learned so much about the potential value of DNA in researching not just your personal history but the complexity in our shared family dynamics as a nation. Chapter 8 works well as a standalone guide on how DNA analysis can be used. How do you handle hitting a wall both figuratively and metaphorically? Each time, this author took the ardent spiritual path. I also had been struggling with where to begin; Collier reinforces the inherent structural supports of beginning where you are.”

She concluded her review with these moving reflections:

“I was absolutely dumbstruck by the emotional response I had to reading how these fragments so painstakingly researched were brought together. Whatever feelings I had about the impact of family separations, and deep-seated emotions on how we treat our children and each other surfaced and overwhelmed me. I was flooded with images, stories, and the painstaking power of healing, restoration, and reconnecting. Still reeling. Take your time. Get your tissues and do get the book.”

I’m so thankful for Jacqueline’s thoughtful review, her encouragement, and her understanding of what this journey represents; not just for me, but for so many of us seeking to reclaim and tell our family stories. Her words remind me why this work matters and why I continue to share it.
